Circus Arts for Young Adults
Looking for something different after school? Circus Arts for Teens is a fun, non-competitive class where you'll build strength, confidence and new skills while trying a huge range of circus disciplines.
Train at the SA Circus Centre, home of Cirkidz, and explore everything from aerials, acrobatics and tumbling to juggling, balancing, trampoline and more. Our experienced trainers tailor activities to suit different skill levels, so whether you're stepping into a circus space for the first time or already have experience, you'll be challenged and supported.
Circus is about more than learning tricks. It's a chance to stay active, make friends, solve problems creatively and discover what your body can do in a welcoming, encouraging environment. Every week brings something new, making this the perfect class for teens who love variety and want to develop skills across the full spectrum of circus arts.
Past participants have gone on to become trainers, be invited into the Artist Development Program, be accepted into the National Institute for Circus Arts (NICA) and tour internationally.
Recent studies from UniSA have confirmed what we at the circus centre have known for many years. In particular, findings from a particular study showed that children involved in regular circus training by Cirkidz within a school environment improved their level of motivation to attend school and engage in learning. It is well understood that remaining in school and getting a good education is a pre-requisite for a good and healthy life. Ensuring children remain motivated and engaged in learning is a key. Studies have also shown that the performing arts offer an opportunity for children to develop life skills such as resilience and coping mechanisms, social interaction as well as improve levels of physical activity. The performing arts also offers children the opportunity to engage in an activity that focuses on team work in a non-competitive environment.
